Supernovas Stay Hot, Beat Redbirds
|
The Scranton Supernovas topped the Memphis Redbirds by the score of 6-4, with the biggest share of the credit going to left fielder Guan-pei Bei. Bei went 3 for 4 with a triple and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Supernovas on the day. Oliver Rodríguez got the win, improving to 6-3. He pitched 7.1 innings, giving up 8 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 1. The Redbirds, now 32-34, have lost 4 straight.
The Redbirds had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Supernovas going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the slick-fielding shortstop César Ferreira came to the plate. Ferreira hit a run-scoring single on a 1-1 cutter from Memphis hurler Marcos del Pozo. It was Ferreira's 69th hit of the year.
"I believe in our guys," said Scranton skipper Craig Stewart. "I like the energy they're playing with."
