Big Day by Thomas Sparks Battery Win
|
The Charleston Battery bested the Portland Evergreens by a score of 8-6, with third baseman Melvin Thomas getting the main credit. On the day, Thomas was 3-5 with a home run and 2 doubles, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once for the Battery. Charleston now sits in 7th place in the Premier League at 29-30.
Thomas had a big at-bat with runners on 1st and 2nd in the top of the fourth inning, when he hit a run-scoring double. The Battery went on to win.
"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Matt Hunt.
