Drummers Continue Hot Start to Season With Win
|
The Tortolita Drummers eked out a 5-4 win versus the Hialeah Dodos at Dodos Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Ed Abood, who captured player of the game honors. Abood, the winner, moves to 3-0. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 3 walks. The save went to Carlos Taváres, his 3rd this season.
Tortolita used the timely hitting of Shawn Kyllo to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the second inning to put the Drummers on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Tortolita manager Barrett Abbott.
Tortolita has an impressive 17-6 record.
