Both teams had their chances, but the Bloomington Longnecks eventually prevailed at Brass Field.

Baton Rouge designated hitter Stephen Goldobenko had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Goldobenko was 3-6 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once, even as Bloomington beat the Brass, 8-7. Goldobenko was named the player of the game despite the loss. Reliever Hamilton Franklin picked up the win. His record improves to 6-3. John Combs took the loss.

Bloomington relied on the bat of Vicente Gomillion to get the win. The left fielder ripped a solo home run in the top of the 12th inning to put the Longnecks ahead, 8-7. For the game, Gomillion had 1 double and 1 home run in 6 at-bats.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," Gomillion said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."

The Longnecks raised their record to 52-46.
