The Vermont Lake Monsters stopped the Tortolita Drummers, 8-7, at Monster Field. The Lake Monsters got a big game from Meshach Ashpenaz, who was 2 for 5 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Losses have been few and far between for the Drummers, who are now 9-1.

Ashpenaz contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Vermont in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 5-4, Ashpenaz took a fastball from Benny Berry and stroked the home run to left. His 1st home run of the season allowed the Lake Monsters to leap in front, 6-5.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Ashpenaz. "And not try to do too much."
