Redbirds Need Extras to Top Men
|
Memphis beat Florida at Lansing Park, eking out a 8-7 win. The win was due in large part to second baseman Bernardo Rodríguez, who earned player of the game honors. Memphis reliever Annamaya Rakhi was the winner. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Marty McFly. Memphis, at 3-1, has sizzled in the early going.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the 12th. With Memphis trailing 7-6, Miguel Silva hit a fastball from Marty McFly to left for a 2-run double. Just like that, the Redbirds had a walk-off win.
In postgame comments to the Memphis Gazette, Rodríguez said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
