Redlegs Fall Short, 4-3, at Syracuse
|
Syracuse first baseman Arsenio Laurel was a significant contributor in his team's 4-3 triumph over the Sacramento Redlegs. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for Syracuse. Edmund Blackadder, who went 5.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 6 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 3-10. With the win over Sacramento, the Starks improved to 19-63.
Laurel contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Syracuse in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Laurel took a forkball from Don Johnson and stroked the home run to left-center. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Starks to leap in front, 2-1.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Starks manager Martin Stewart. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
