A nice crowd turned out to see the Syracuse Starks and Baton Rouge Brass clash at Brass Field.

Syracuse withstood an impressive performance by Baton Rouge center fielder Vicente Romero to defeat the Brass, 8-4, at Brass Field. Romero went 3 for 4 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 3 runs. Ollie McDaniell, credited with the win, is now 3-8. He allowed 4 runs on 10 hits in 8.1 innings.

Syracuse used the clutch hitting of Francisco Agámez to capture the win. The right fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Starks ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Agámez told reporters after the game.

Syracuse now sits in last place in the Premier AAA at 18-61.
