Pesci Powers Redbirds to 7-4 Win
The Memphis Redbirds put one in the win column on Opening Day at Lansing Park. The Redbirds defeated the Port Huron Blitzkrieg, 7-4. Memphis third baseman Joël Pesci was instrumental in his team's success. He went 4-5 with a triple and 3 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Memphis reliever Annamaya Rakhi was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Ramón Costello.

Pesci had a game-changing triple in the bottom of the eighth. On a first pitch fastball from Ramón Costello, he banged a 2-run triple to right-center, giving the Redbirds a 6-4 lead. It was the 1st triple of the year for Pesci.

"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Pesci told the Memphis Gazette.
