Port Royal rode a decent outing from starter Dean Cross to victory over the Sacramento Redlegs at Sacramento Sanitation Station. The final score was 6-3. Port Royal reliever Júlio Díaz picked up the win, bumping his record to 3-1. Ron Meredith was collared with the loss. Port Royal, at 33-43, sits in 8th place in the Premier AAA.
The outcome might have been different for Port Royal, had it not been for Mark Merry, the 29-year old catcher . Merry stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the 11th inning to put Port Royal up, 6-3. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"I have a really good team behind me," Cross said. "I trust them 100 percent."
