The Tacoma Fur Traders picked up a win at Ballpark of Tacoma, knocking off the Atlantic City Sonics, 6-5. Starting pitcher Félix Benítez played a key role in the triumph. Benítez picked up the win for Tacoma, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 5 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 1-3. Getting the save was Ricky Mina, his 3rd.
In the bottom of the second, Jeroen Penning hit a 2-run double for Tacoma. The 3rd double of the season for the Tacoma shortstop put the Fur Traders on top, 2-0.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Penning told the Tacoma Herald.
With the win, Tacoma goes to 9-25, while the Sonics fall to 28-6.
