The Toledo Saboteurs beat the Virginia Beach Whales, 6-5 at Toledo Backyard Park, in part due to designated hitter Coy MacKey, who nabbed player of the game honors. He was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Jim Harris picked up the save for Toledo, his 8th of the year. The Saboteurs bumped their record to 19-14 with this latest triumph.
The Saboteurs got a big at-bat from shortstop Doug Pollock. For the game, Pollock was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Toledo a 3-0 lead.
MacKey told a Toledo Daily reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
