Alfonso Cruises to Shutout
In an impressive outing, Tony Alfonso whitewashed the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids 8-0.

"I'm getting a lot more downward movement instead of side to side. That side-to-side stuff can get hit a long way," said Alfonso, who is throwing with more of an overhand motion.

"It's not rocket science. It was just a little adjustment, but that's all it took."

The Hollywood hurler held Northern Virginia scoreless, allowed 7 hits, chalked up 8 strikeouts and yielded no walks.

This year Alfonso has made 10 starts, thrown 68 innings, fanned 66 batters and walked 20. His won-lost record is 5-2 with a 2.78 ERA.
