The Baton Rouge Brass powered past the Bloomington Longnecks, 10-9, at Lookouts Ballpark. Weston Doyle went 2 for 5 with a home run and a triple, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once, to lead the charge. Gilberto Chávez picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-1. Ron Mingo was tagged with the loss. Tate Beason picked up the save, his 1st.
The outcome might have been different for Baton Rouge, had it not been for Augusto Reyes, the 29-year old right fielder . Reyes stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put Baton Rouge up, 10-9. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"It was a nice win for our side today," said Brass manager Kelly Flint. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
The Brass have now won 4 straight.
