It was a good time at Sonics Ballpark, where fans came to watch the St. Petersburg Thunder and Atlantic City Sonics get after it.
Gaberiela Tatafu never let the Thunder get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his curveball, to pitch the Sonics to a 3-1 win. In 7.1 innings, Tatafu surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run.
Atlantic City took a 3-1 lead on John Clements's 7th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Clements hit in the bottom of the seventh, left St. Petersburg pitcher Adrian Robertson shaking his head.
"I just trusted my stuff," said Tatafu.
The Sonics boast a remarkable 23-4 record.
