Fur Traders Win in Glorious Fashion
|
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Axel Chicote, the Tacoma Fur Traders defeated the Ottawa Nationals, 8-7. Chicote was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Fur Traders. The win was credited to Randy Keith in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Travis Conklin took the loss. Today's win puts Tacoma at 5-19, while Ottawa falls to 5-19.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Chicote hit a fastball from Travis Conklin for a run-scoring single. The Fur Traders, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Chicote said in his postgame press conference.
