The losses keep piling up for the Port Royal Disaster.
Sacramento Redlegs starter Luis Varela was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Port Royal Disaster, 7-1. The winning pitcher was Varela, now 2-4. He tossed 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 4.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 3rd and one out in the top of the sixth inning. That's when designated hitter Qian-fu Zhou, who is tied for 7th in the PAAA in doubles with 12, drew a walk. The Redlegs went on to win.
"I thought we played a nice game," Zhou told the Sacramento Daily. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
Port Royal is in the throes of a 9-game skid.
