Saboteurs Win at Lancaster, 6-2
|
The Toledo Saboteurs got a strong performance from pitcher Hakumele Apelama, who stymied the Lancaster offense en route to a 6-2 win at Farmers Field. Apelama, now 1-0, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 10, walking 1, and allowing 2 earned runs. Jim Harris recorded the save for Toledo, his 4th of the season.
Toledo needed the clutch hitting of Ralph Titus to notch the win. The third baseman hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Saboteurs on top, 4-2. For the game, Titus had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I thought we played a nice game," Titus told the Toledo Daily. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
The 6th-place Saboteurs now have a win-loss record of 12-10.
