David Silva never let the Disaster get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his slider, to pitch the Brass to a 2-1 win. The win was credited to José Rodríguez in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Tyrone Poole took the loss. The 8th-place Disaster have lost 5 straight games.
The outcome might have been different for Baton Rouge, had it not been for Pancho Espinoza, the 28-year old third baseman . Espinoza stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Baton Rouge up, 2-1. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"I like what I saw today," said Baton Rouge manager Kelly Flint, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
