Pittman goes 4-for-5, Farmers Move to 12-7
|
The Lancaster Farmers stopped the Providence Pilgrims, 6-1, at Field of Plenty. The Farmers got a big game from Archie Pittman, who went 4-5 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Lancaster starter Gijsbert van Veen was credited with the win after throwing 109 pitches over 7 innings. His record now stands at 2-2. Lancaster, now 12-7, has played well in the early going.
Pittman came through with some timely hitting for Lancaster. With the score 0-0 in the top of the third and one down, Pittman hit a 1-2 fastball for a run-scoring double. His 9th double of the season made it 1-0, Lancaster.
"I just love going out and having a big game," Pittman said when asked about being named player of the game. "It's an honor to have your talents recognized."
