Late Rally by Rocks Secures Win
|
The Plymouth Rocks beat the Syracuse Starks, 8-4, at Stark Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of catcher Pedro Marrero, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 times. Josh Brennan, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 4th save. The Starks, now 9-28, have lost 5 in a row.
Plymouth used the clutch hitting of Curt Taylor to capture the win. The second baseman drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to give the Rocks the lead, 5-4. For the game, Taylor had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.
"When I'm in the lineup, I always feel like we're going to win the game," said Marrero.
