Late Rally by Battery Secures Win
Charleston withstood an impressive performance by Portland first baseman Tetsu Matsumoto to defeat the Evergreens, 8-6, at Evergreen Park. Matsumoto was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Charleston reliever Amberlan Romubio got the win, raising his record to 4-2. Tom Peña was tagged with the loss. With the win over Portland, the Battery improved to 25-19.

Uoti Vaijärvi's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With one out, he rapped a fastball from Mark Robinson for a run-scoring single. It put Charleston in front, 7-6.

"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Matt Hunt.
