Great Day for Merry in Disaster Win
|
The Port Royal Disaster handed the Forest City Warriors a loss at League Park. The final score was 5-2. Mark Merry was named player of the game for Port Royal. In addition to his 3 singles and 1 home run, he scored 3 runs and drove in 2. José Blanco, who went 6.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with no runs on 3 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 8. His record now stands at 2-2. With the win, Port Royal goes to 12-20, while the Warriors fall to 17-15.
It could have been a different outcome for Port Royal, had it not been for Anson Darrah, the 31-year old right fielder . Darrah contributed a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the top of the third inning to put Port Royal up, 1-0.
"I thought we played a nice game," Merry told the Port Royal Times. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
