Umaba Excels, But Patriots Win
|
The Boston Patriots had to overcome a big game from Hollywood designated hitter Kanko Umaba to leave The Hollywood Bowl with a 5-4 victory. Umaba went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Boston reliever Jorge Gil picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Larry Benítez was saddled with the loss. Kelemeneke Balun picked up the save for Boston, his 1st of the year.
Boston relied on the hitting of Jae-woo Ohm to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Patriots on top, 5-4. For the game, Ohm had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Boston manager Tyler Carter.
Boston is now 24-19.
