Browns Continue Skid Thanks to Jost, Evergreens
|
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Richard Jost, the Portland Evergreens defeated the Cleveland Browns, 6-3. Jost slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Evergreens. Cristián Moreno got the win, improving to 5-3. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 7 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 0. The 8th-place Browns have lost 7 straight games.
The Browns had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Evergreens going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the former first round draft pick Vicente Gomillion came to the plate. Gomillion hit a run-scoring single on a first pitch screwball from Cleveland hurler Chris Holland. It was Gomillion's 9th hit of the year.
"Feels good to get the job done," Jost said after the game.
