|
Getting a good performance from center fielder Daniel MacKinder, the Virginia Beach Whales defeated the Toledo Saboteurs, 17-6. MacKinder went 2-5 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 5 for the Whales. Virginia Beach reliever Bu-wei Zhenya picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Guus Danen was saddled with the loss. With the win, Virginia Beach elevates its record to 6-4.
Virginia Beach took a 7-5 lead on Juan Oleastro's 21st hit of the season. The 2-run single, which Oleastro hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Toledo pitcher José Santos visibly frustrated.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Oleastro said. "We did a good job of that today."
