The Toledo Saboteurs stymied the Providence Pilgrims, 6-2, at Field of Plenty. José Rivera, who had a good day at the plate, was named player of the game. He was 3-4 with 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs for Toledo. Toledo reliever Tetsuzan Miyata picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Elvis King was saddled with the loss. The loss lowers the Providence record to 3-4.
The outcome might have been different for Toledo, had it not been for Steve Washington, the 24-year old right fielder . Washington stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Toledo up, 4-2. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 1 double and 2 singles.
