Nobles Continue Hot Start to Season With Win
|
The Bakersfield Nobles beat the Bloomington Longnecks, 7-3, at Lookouts Ballpark. Bakersfield catcher Corey Ollerton earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Bakersfield reliever Jeremy Gonzáles picked up the win to move to 3-0. Jesús Franco suffered the loss. The hot start continues for the defending champion Nobles, who took their 10th win in 14 games this year.
One important at-bat came with a runner on 1st in the top of the sixth inning. Facing Bloomington hurler Jesús Franco, Kevin de Bruyne hit a double. The Nobles went on to win.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Ollerton told reporters after the game.
