Warriors Solve Redlegs, 5-2
|
Sacramento got a terrific performance from pitcher Luis Varela, but it wasn't enough to beat the Forest City Warriors. Forest City won the League Park contest, 5-2. Varela was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball. Getting the save was Elliot Roebuck, his 1st. The win moves Forest City to a record of 6-8.
The Warriors got a lift from center fielder Charlie Cummings who had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth inning off Luis Varela. It was his 5th RBI of the season and put Forest City in front, 2-1.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Cummings told the Forest City Gazette.
