Thunder Come Up Short at Toledo
|
The Toledo Saboteurs beat the St. Petersburg Thunder, 4-3, at Toledo Backyard Park. The Saboteurs got a fine performance from designated hitter Steve Washington, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-3 with 3 singles and a walk. Toledo reliever Carlos Poujol picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Curt Moore was saddled with the loss. Toledo is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 1st in 4 games.
Had Doug Pollock not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Pollock hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Saboteurs.
"We found a way to get it done," Washington said.
