Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Hollywood Shredders were eager to watch Jesús Vidro square off against Kevin Nogilny of the visiting New Orleans Voodoo. In the end, the Shredders won the game, 5-4, with Mario Castillo earning player of the game honors. Cullen Taylor finished the game for Hollywood and earned his 1st save.
Had Castillo not come through in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have changed. Instead, with two down, Castillo hit a 3-run home run. The Shredders never looked back after taking the 5-3 lead.
"We did enough to win," said Castillo.
