Pilgrims Slip Past Tacoma, 1-0

The Providence Pilgrims electrified the home crowd at Field of Plenty with a walk-off win.
The Providence Pilgrims picked up a win at Field of Plenty, knocking off the Tacoma Fur Traders, 1-0. Starting pitcher Jared Martínez was an essential part of his team's success. Providence reliever Phat Tra picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Ricky Mina absorbed the loss.
Providence won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With no outs and Ricky Mina on the mound for Tacoma, pinch hitter Gabriel Méndez hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Pilgrims fans to their feet.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Méndez told the Providence Daily News.
The Pilgrims, now 2-0, have played some good baseball in the early going.
