Loss to Battery Extends Northern Virginia Losing Streak
|
The Charleston Battery picked up a win at Charleston Armory, knocking off the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 4-1. Starting pitcher Hildebrand Michielsen played a key role in the triumph. Michielsen, now 2-2, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing 1 earned run. The losing skid has reached 8 games for Northern Virginia.
Benno Luby, who is tied for 9th in the PL with a .551 slugging percentage, chipped in for Charleston with a solo home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI.
