Nolensville Beats Santa Barbara, 7-5
|
Despite a fine performance by catcher José Avilés, the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes suffered a 7-5 loss to the Nolensville Knights. Avilés was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Ed Lake, who went 5 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 7 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 4-4. Nolensville is in 9th place in the Menard's AAA with a record of 45-55.
Nolensville used the bat of Jorge Mateu to get the win. The second baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Knights ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"We'll savor this win," Mateu told the Nolensville Observer, "then get ready for the next game."
