The Monongahela Monsters defeated the Milton Dogfish Head, 4-3, at Timber Hawks Ballpark. Monongahela first baseman Richello Oliva was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Monongahela reliever Al Verkler picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Sergio Tacuri shouldered the loss. After today's action, Monongahela sits at 38-46, while Milton falls to 56-28.
Oliva had a game-changing single in the bottom of the tenth. On a 1-2 fastball from Sergio Tacuri, he banged a run-scoring single to right, giving the Monsters a 4-3 lead. It was the 74th hit of the year for Oliva.
