Red Pandas Best Dogfish Head in Pitching Duel
|
The Milton Dogfish Head got a superb performance from pitcher Nick Hayes. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Sioux Falls. The Red Pandas won the game, 2-0. In spite of the loss, Hayes was named the player of the game. He threw 5 innings allowing 1 run. Sioux Falls reliever Chris Rice picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Nick Hayes took the loss. Tim Sandaele, credited with the save, is now 19 for 20 in save opportunities.
Tied up with the Dogfish Head in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Red Pandas got a boost from second baseman Myles Brundidge. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Brundidge saw a 0-1 splitter from Nick Hayes and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Sioux Falls on top, 1-0.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Milton manager Alfred Roberts.
Sioux Falls's record now stands at 46-35, placing them second in the Menard's AAA.
