Reserves Rally For Late Win Over Buzz
|
The Athletic Club KC Reserves defeated the Salt Lake City Buzz, 6-4. Earning player of the game honors was catcher Michael Evershed, who was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Athletic Club KC reliever Grant Gremel was credited with the win, to go to 7-4. Javier Soto took the loss for Salt Lake City. Athletic Club KC occupies last place in the Menard's AAA at 32-48.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Ted Reed came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Salt Lake City pitcher Javier Soto, he hit a full count curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Athletic Club KC on top, 5-4.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Salt Lake City manager Greg Keys. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
