Monsters Score Late, Upend Golden Cranes, 4-3
|
The Monongahela Monsters did just enough to secure a 4-3 victory over the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes at Timber Hawks Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Ean Somoza, who captured player of the game honors. Edmond McCord earned the save for Monongahela, his 4th. Monongahela, at 33-43, occupies 10th place in the Menard's AAA.
Monongahela took a 4-3 lead on Ron Carlisle's 1st home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Santa Barbara pitcher Kgosi Gowon in the bottom of the eighth.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Somoza. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
