Browns Come Back Late to Top Shredders
|
The Cleveland Browns topped the Hollywood Shredders by the score of 8-3, with the biggest share of the credit going to shortstop Alexei Ponikarov. Ponikarov went 2-4 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Browns on the day. Cleveland now has a 3-game win streak.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher Bob Giles came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Hollywood pitcher Hwa-pyung Yi, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Cleveland on top, 4-3.
"I'm proud of the way our guys played today to come out with this win," Giles told the Cleveland Daily News.
