Benefiting from Shun Komatsu's productive game, the Sioux Falls Red Pandas downed the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes, 4-3. Komatsu was 3-4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He drove in 3 runs for the Red Pandas. Ralph DePalma was the winning pitcher. Over 5.2 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 4 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. Tim Sandaele closed the door for Sioux Falls, picking up his 12th save of the year.
Komatsu came through with some timely hitting for Sioux Falls. With the score 2-0 in the top of the second and two down, Komatsu hit a 2-0 splitter for a 2-run double. His 7th double of the season made it 4-0, Sioux Falls.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Santa Barbara skipper Pedro León, "and it cost us."
The Golden Cranes, now 25-34, have lost 5 in a row.
