Golden Cranes Nip Fog, 7-6
|
The Santa Barbara Golden Cranes turned back the Sunset District Fog, 7-6, at Crane Field. Kyle Mullens was named player of the game for his fine performance. He was 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Santa Barbara reliever Dermot Eridge picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Pedro Rodríguez was saddled with the loss. The Golden Cranes raised their record to 23-27.
Had Mullens not come through in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have changed. Instead, with two down, Mullens hit a 3-run home run. The Golden Cranes never looked back after taking the 6-5 lead.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Sunset District manager Tomás Gonzáles. "But we decided not to take it."
