Sharts Lifts Red Pandas to 8-5 Win
|
The Sioux Falls Red Pandas defeated the Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds, 8-5. Earning player of the game honors was center fielder Owen Sharts, who was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Timoteo Sassetti was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 1 run on 4 hits, with 2 walks and 8 strikeouts. The Red Pandas go to 22-15, putting them third in the Menard's AAA.
It could have been a different outcome for Sioux Falls, had it not been for Temaki Yuka, the 27-year old first baseman . Yuka contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth inning to put Sioux Falls up, 2-1.
"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said Yuka.
