Black Mambas Sneak Past Buzz, 4-3
|
The Salt Lake City Buzz got a superb performance from pitcher Alfredo Molina. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Austin. The Black Mambas won the game, 4-3. In spite of the loss, Molina was named the player of the game. He threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball. With the win, the Black Mambas improved to 18-10.
Austin used the timely hitting of Rick Pawlowicz to capture the win. The third baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Black Mambas ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was an important one.
Salt Lake City manager Greg Keys said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
