5-Hit Barrage by Day
|
Salt Lake City first baseman Aaron Day had a fantastic day at the plate at Crane Field today, knocking out 5 hits and pacing his club to a 10-5 victory.
"It was like I was hitting Little League pitching," Day said after his 5-for-5 performance against the Golden Cranes. "No offense meant to Santa Barbara, but it was like I was back in little league again -- I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid park, it was Crane Field."
After the game, his manager elaborated on the first baseman's improvements, saying Day spent the offseason trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball.
"That's what I'm trying to do," Day said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."
Aaron Day hit an RBI double in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Mototsune Rin in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
On the year Day is hitting .400 with 12 hits, 3 home runs, 8 RBIs, .438 OBP and has scored 11 runs.
