Black Mambas Get Close Win Over Monsters
|
Austin designated hitter Jason Portillo was instrumental in his team's 6-5 win over the Monongahela Monsters. Portillo went 2-4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Black Mambas. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Craig Wash. Losses have been few and far between for the Monsters, who are now 3-1.
Portillo contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Austin in the top of the eighth. With his team trailing 5-2, Portillo took a changeup from Al Verkler and stroked the home run to left. His 1st home run of the season allowed the Black Mambas to leap in front, 6-5.
"You win some, you lose some. I don't get too caught up in all that," said Portillo.
