Stingers Stay Hot, Beat Lakers
|
The Toledo Stingers extended their winning streak at Pacesetter Park.
In a low-scoring tilt between the Toledo Stingers and the Echo Park Lakers, Craig Fitzgerald was the difference-maker. The Toledo left-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-1 win. Yoriyoshi Sugimoto sewed up the save, his 10th.
Had Baldomero Avino not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Avino hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Stingers.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Avino said.
The first-place Stingers have won 13 in a row.
