Big Game from Volkoff Not Enough, Outlaws Lose
|
The Seattle Rocketeers outlasted Nikolai Volkoff and the Nashville Outlaws, 10-9. Volkoff was impressive in the loss. The Nashville first baseman went 4-4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Min-chor Chon sewed up the save, his 5th. The loss lowers the Nashville record to 9-7.
Seattle used the bat of Mathew Mayo to get the win. The designated hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Rocketeers ahead, 8-6. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"We'll savor this win," Mayo told the Seattle Daily, "then get ready for the next game."
