Wood on Fire: 5-for-6 for Ithaca Saturday, August 31st, 2041 Paul Wood knows as well as anyone that in baseball, the biggest contracts go to the biggest hitters. At Imps Park today, he made his case to be considered among that group. The 25-year-old center fielder hammered 5 hits in 6 chances, though the remarkable effort came even as his Ithaca Fighting Imps fell, 17-16, to the Crescent City Krewe. "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," Krewe manager Kelly Flint told BNN sportswriters after the game. "Thankfully, we were able to do enough elsewhere that Wood wasn't the difference." Paul Wood singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
