Valdéz Keeps Hit Streak Alive Monday, July 29th, 2041 The number just keeps getting higher. Chesapeake second baseman Alfredo Valdéz has now extended his hitting string to 20 games. He did it today with 1 hit in 5 at-bats as the Chesapeake took the 6-4 win over the Akron Blimps at Chesapeake Grounds. "Who knows how long it will go on?" Akron manager Jared Gilbert said. "He's certainly tough to pitch to right now." Alfredo Valdéz struck out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, struck out in the 6th and flied out in the 8th. For the season Valdéz has hit .321 with 5 home runs and 15 RBIs. He has played in 52 games and scored 33 times. |
