Miners Payton and Blues Chávez Suspended for Fight Saturday, August 31st, 2041 Martin Payton of Marquette and Jaime Chávez of Barton Springs were the main participants in a recent bench-clearing brawl and today the league handed out its punishment. Payton will have to miss 4 games for his part in the brawl, while Chávez was given 6 games. League officials announced their suspensions today. This year Payton is batting .268 with 63 hits, 8 home runs, 30 RBIs, 22 walks, .331 OBP and has scored 28 runs. This season-to-date, Chávez has fashioned a 5-1 mark and 2.43 ERA in 66.2 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .205 against him and he has logged 71 strikeouts. |
